PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit content recorded in media from a recording/reproducing device to be used only in the recording/reproducing device. SOLUTION: When recording content A to C to which content protection prescription is applied in external media 110 from a recording/reproducing device 100, a hash value unique to the recording/reproducing device 100 of the content to be recorded is generated, and stored in association with the content. On the other hand, when the content in the media 110 is used by the recording/reproducing device 100, the hash value of the content in the media 110 is generated, and whether it coincides with the hash value stored in the recording/reproducing device 100 is checked. When they match, the use (for example, reproduction, copying, movement or the like) of the content as a source of the hash value in the recording/reproducing device 100 is permitted.
