<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medicinal herb-cultivating implement having a structure suitable for power saving in a cultivating isolation bed for medicinal herbs whose rootstalks is utilized, root crops and the like: and to provide a method for cultivating the medicinal herbs or the root crops. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The medicinal herb-cultivating implement includes a slit 1a formed at part of the peripheral surface of a hollow semi-cylindrical body 1 along a longitudinal direction to make the peripheral surface of the cylinder body openable from the slit part so as to improve workability of medicinal herb cultivation or the like in the cylindrical body. Drainage through holes 1c formed at the bottom receiving surface of the hollow semi-cylindrical body 1 carries out moderate drainage to prevent root rot, and also the whole length of the hollow semi-cylindrical body 1 is set according to the kinds of the medicinal herbs and the like to make the bottom receiving surface inhibit the extension of the root and accelerate the root to become fine, enlarge the root in the hollow semi-cylindrical tube, and enhance the market commercial value of the medicinal herbs and the like. Further, the bottom receiving plate is integrally formed with the hollow semi-cylindrical body 1 to enable power saving such as improvement in working efficiency and reduction of working load due to weight reduction.
