PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly water-soluble two-photon absorption material having a large two-photon absorption cross-sectional area. SOLUTION: The two-photon absorption material comprises water-soluble dendrimer to be expressed by General Expression 1. In the expression, Pig denotes a pigment having pigment two-photon absorbability and fluorescence, and D denotes Dendron to be coupled with the pigment and a structure having a functional group to be coupled with the Dendron on an outermost part thereof.
