The device (100) has a photo sensor (115) for determining heat radiation, and a radiation source (120) for producing the heat radiation. A mirror (150) is connected with a passenger window (105) and reflects the heat radiation on the photo sensor independent of a fitting degree of the mirror. A side of the mirror is formed as a permeable side to allow the heat radiation to be incident on the photo sensor from outside into a motor vehicle. A heat radiation signal is provided by the photo sensor independent of activation of the radiation source on a fitting condition of the passenger window. An independent claim is also included for a system for determination of measuring signals for a motor vehicle.
