The device has a seat rail (4) connected with a vehicle, and a locking device connected with the seat. The locking device is brought in effective connection with the seat rail over an entire adjusting area at multiple positions lying in a longitudinal direction towards the vehicle. The seat rail has an adjustable stopper device comprising a movable stopper (1). A limited adjusting area from the entire adjusting area is defined by the adjustable stopper device, where referred positions in a seat are pre-selected by end positions, provided for the locking device, in the limited adjusting area.
