Disclosed is a technique for creating data relating to an image of a print by means of a digital camera while preventing halation. A device for capturing an image of a print is equipped with a base (1) on which a print is placed, a mechanism for fixing a digital camera (DC) downward directly above the print, a mirror (48B) for reflecting illuminating light emitted from a flashtube (F) of the digital camera (DC) in two directions, and diffusely reflecting portions (S) for diffusely reflecting the illuminating light beams reflected at the mirror (48B) in the two opposite horizontal directions.  The illuminating light beams striking the diffusely reflecting portions (S) are diffusely reflected by the diffusely reflecting portions (S) and shine on the print (P) at such a small angle as not to cause halation even when an image of the print (P) is captured by the digital camera (DC) using the diffused light as illuminating light.
