<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device having excellent versatility as an intake model of an engine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This engine controller provided with a throat part in an intake passage and having a function as a pump for sucking intake air on the downstream side of the throat part into a combustion chamber includes a virtual flow velocity/virtual mach number calculation means 17 for calculating virtual flow velocity or a virtual mach number based on intake capacity as the pump for sucking intake air on the downstream side of the throat part into the combustion chamber and the area of the throat part, and a normalization volume efficiency/throat part front and rear pressure ratio/throat part front and rear density ratio calculating means 18 for calculating one of normalization volume efficiency, a throat part front and rear pressure ratio, and a throat part front and rear density ratio based on the calculated virtual flow velocity or virtual mach number.
