摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for driving a liquid crystal display, which improves luminance and power efficiency of the liquid crystal display while maintaining color reproducibility of the liquid crystal display. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display includes a plurality of gate lines, a plurality of data lines being insulated from the plurality of gate lines and crossing them, and a plurality of pixels formed at regions surrounded by the plurality of data lines crossing the plurality of gate lines and arranged in a matrix state having switching elements connected respectively to the gate lines and the data lines, wherein each pixel is one pixel out of pixels of red, green, blue and white, and the pixels of red, green, blue, and white constitute one dot. The apparatus for driving the liquid crystal display includes a gate driving part supplying gate voltage to the gate line, a data driving part supplying data voltage corresponding to four-color image signals applied to the data lines, and a signal control part converting three-color image signals applied from the outside to four-color image signals, optimizing the converted four-color image signals and providing them to the data driving part.
