<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a damage by extension of a seal ring 3 at a high pressure and also to suppress a sliding resistance of the seal ring 3 in a sealing device for sealing a reciprocating part such as a piston. <P>SOLUTION: The sealing device has: the seal ring 3 made of a rubber-like elastic material; and a backup ring 4 made of a material harder than this seal ring 3 and the height h of which is higher than a depth d of an attachment channel 21, in the attachment channel 21 formed on either of the inner circumference face 1a of a peripheral member 1 and the peripheral face 2a of an inner circumference member 2 disposed on the inner circumference so as to be movable in an axis direction to be continued in a circumference direction. The sealing device is also provided with the required number of notches 41 to be communicated between both sides of this backup ring 4 on the inner circumference face or the peripheral face of the backup ring 4. The backup ring 4 prevents the seal ring 3 from being extended from the attachment channel 21. Since the notches 41 permit distribution of a fluid between both sides in an axis direction of this backup ring 4, the lubricity of the seal ring 3 is secured by this fluid. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
