<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To speed up a process of a check processing apparatus which recognizes magnetic ink characters with a high degree of accuracy, using a magnetic ink character recognition and an optical character recognition. <P>SOLUTION: The check processing apparatus 1 includes: a magnetic head 23 for reading a magnetic ink character string 6A on a check 6; a contact image scanner 21, having a line type CMOS image sensor 22 for capturing a surface image of the check containing the magnetic ink character string 6A a control unit 30 for reading from the scanner 21, only the dot data portion having a width W containing image data of the magnetic ink character string 6A out of scanned one line dot data by the scanner 21; and buffer memories 35, 37 for storing the data read from the magnetic head 23 and dot data read from the scanner 21 respectively. Since the reading time for one dot line data can be reduced, adverse effects due to reading time, such as, constraints on the carrying speed of media can be avoided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
