<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrochemical active material consisting of lithium manganese phosphate with a high electron conductivity, and a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery having a high capacity upon discharging. <P>SOLUTION: The electrochemical active material consisting of lithium manganese phosphate with a surface on which a nickel compound or an iron compound is arranged has carbon arranged on the nickel compound or the iron compound. Thereby, Ni or Fe shows a catalytic action to the decomposition carbonization reaction of an organic material which becomes a carbon source.
