PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an equipment management device, equipment management system, software management method, and software management program capable of performing software management work including license authentication on equipment to be managed, and a recording medium recording the program. SOLUTION: The equipment management device 100 monitors equipment 200 connected through a predetermined data transmission channel 90 and performs equipment management. The equipment management device 100 includes: an update necessity determination means 201 for determining the necessity of the software update based on an installation status of software installed in the equipment 200; an authentication necessity determination means 302 for determining the necessity of license authentication for the software based on the installation status; and an update request means 203 for requesting the equipment 200 for the software update based on results of determination by the update necessity determination means 201 and the authentication necessity determination means 302.
