PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a highly durable damping device in which a valve element is hardly damaged. SOLUTION: This damping device of a liquid enclosing type includes an outer cylinder connected to one of a vibration generation part and a vibration receiving part, an inner cylinder connected to the other of the two, an elastic body elastically connecting the outer cylinder to the inner cylinder, a partitioning member 15 for partitioning a liquid chamber in the outer cylinder into a main liquid chamber 17 on one side with the elastic body being a portion of a wall face and a sub liquid chamber on the other side, and a restriction passage 40 for communicating the main liquid chamber 17 with the sub liquid chamber. Inside the outer cylinder, one end in the longitudinal direction is a fixed end and the other end in the longitudinal direction is a free end positioned at an opening part 44 on the main liquid chamber 17 side in the restriction passage 40, and the valve element 48 that elastically deforms by liquid pressure in the liquid chamber is disposed, wherein the valve element 48 has a shape in which the spring constant is lowered from the fixed end side toward the free end side.
