<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide effective, pleasant photography which satisfies a user in view of the effect of a camera shake correction and energy saving. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The camera includes: an image sensor that receives light of a subject image from taking lenses and converts it into an electric signal; a shake detecting means for detecting shake of the camera held by a hand/hands; a first shake correcting means for moving at least some of the taking lenses, thereby correcting the shake detected by the shake detecting means; a second shake correcting means for correcting the shake by electronically processing image data obtained from the image sensor as a result of imaging carried out for a very short period; and a comparison section that determines whether pixel shift has occurred in the image data as a result of imaging for the very short time in order to exert control by switching between the first shake correcting means and the second shake correcting means.
