898,413. Retractive switches. SWF-SPEZIALFABBIK FUER AUTOZUBEHOER G. RAU G.m.b.H. March 9, 1960 [March 14, 1959], No. 8274/60. Class 38 (5). A direction-indicator switch 4 mounted in the hub 2 of a vehicle steering wheel 3 has a control lever 5 with an enlarged end 6 housing an additional switch (for flashing headlights) which is operated by pressing a member 7 towards the steering wheel. The control lever is substantially of inverted U shape in crosssection and the trough-like member 7 is supported on a screw 11 passing through a hollow rivet 18 which, with a similar rivet 19, secures spring contact blades 12 and 13 and associated insulation 14, 15, to the member 7. The outer end of member 7 normally rests as shown against the head of a screw 21. A spring 20 acts between lugs 7b on member 7 and a ledge on a part 9 of the lever end 6. When member 7 is pressed upwardly contact blade 13 is restrained by the part 9 such that the blade 12 engages therewith to complete a circuit between leads 22 and 23. In a modification (Fig. 3, not shown), an elongated conductive plate closes the under side of the control lever 5 and the outer end of this plate is resiliently displaceable to function in place of both the member 7 and the contact blade 12. |
