A communication system (1) is provided with a plurality of communication devices (11 to 15) which perform communication using a power line (4) and shares the power line with the other communication systems (2, 3). At least one of the communication devices in the communication system comprise an area detection means (101) which detects a communicable area which can be used by the communication system from among a plurality of communicable areas divided at least by time, a declaration means (104) which declares at least a part of the detected communicable area as a communicable area to be used by the communication system on the other communication systems, and a reporting means (105) which reports the declared communicable area to the communication devices. The communication devices respectively perform communication in the reported communicable area.
