The method involves adjusting an end of an elevator in the clamping devices (25,26) with a predetermined clamping force. The elevator is impinged with a tensile force at the end in peripheral direction of a drum. The clamping force is formed during impinging with the tensile force, and the elevator is placed over an outer surface.
