The orientation sensor (1) has a sensor unit (3) for detecting an actual orientation or an orientation deviation from an orientation (6). An evaluation unit (2) is connected with the sensor unit. The evaluation unit is connected with a signaling unit (4) for signaling the actual orientation or orientation deviation. The signaling units are formed for optically or acoustically signaling the actual orientation or orientation deviation. Independent claims are also included for: (1) an orientation controller for the orientation correction; (2) a device, particularly a machine tool, particularly a handheld machine tool or a measuring device, particularly a range finder; and (3) a system with a device for use in an orientation sensor.
