The cleaner (10) has a suction blower (12), and an electronic circuit (16) communicatively connected with a nozzle (14) e.g. upholstery nozzle, of a vacuum cleaner. The electronic circuit automatically adjusts the suction capacity of the blower based on the type of nozzle, which include a transponder (32) i.e. radio frequency identification (RFID)-transponder. An electric cable connection e.g. controller area network-bus, is utilized as a communication connection between the electronic circuit and the nozzle, where the electronic circuit includes a reader device (34) i.e. RFID-reader device. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an electric vacuum cleaner.
