<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reversible thermochromic ink composition for writing utensil, which can be applied regardless of the pH of ink, in which the defective dispersion or agglomeration of a microcapsule pigment is restrained even after the frozen ink is thawed again so that the increase of ink viscosity and consequently defective writing such as blurred writing can be prevented, and to provide a writing utensil incorporating the reversible thermochromic ink composition. <P>SOLUTION: The reversible thermochromic ink composition for writing utensil is composed of: the reversible thermochromic microcapsule pigment obtained by encapsulating a reversible thermochromic composition composed of (a) an electron-donating color-forming organic compound, (b) an electron-accepting compound and (c) a reactive medium for deciding the temperature at which a color reaction is caused between (a) and (b); 2,5-dimercapto-1,3,4-thiadiazole and/or salt thereof; and water.
