<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method, which are excellent in portability and versatility, for highly precisely and efficiently correcting the distortion of a photographic object by information processing without using any optical mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus is configured to acquire a document image including at least an image of a document photographed by an image photographing part, and to extract a contour of the document from the acquired document image based on luminance, to detect a contour straight line on the contour located at a location where a distance between the contour and a center point of a rectangle having the minimum area surrounding the extracted contour is shortest as a distortion position in the document, and to perform geometric correction on the document image to extend the contour to a correction reference line determined from the detected distortion position, and to generate a corrected image having the distortion in the document image corrected. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
