PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and an image processing method, which can change timing of a marking composition according to a marking image, and improve productivity of the printing. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus builds up an application by a connection of a first component and a second component C3, and has a marking composition service C7 which controls composition of the marking image based on marking kind information which is information regarding to the marking kinds. The second component includes an inquiry means 801 which inquires timing to compose a marking image on an image for the marking composition service, and a request means 802 which requests a marking composition request to the marking composition service in the inquiring timing. The marking composition service includes a determination means 804 which outputs the determined timing based on the marking kind information to the second component when the enquiry is received.
