PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of detecting the end of paper, when the interval of carrying paper is narrow or overlapped. SOLUTION: The paper detecting part of the image forming device includes a light receiving part 102 including a plurality of light receiving elements arranged in the paper carrying direction. An arithmetic processing part 104 adds while shifting a signal from these elements by synchronizing with a carrying speed of the paper, and increases and stores a signal changing level in a buffer in a result storage part 105.
