<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotating electric machine capable of solving problems of heat or a magnetic circuit due to a wedge. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The rotating electric machine has: a stator 200 having a slot for housing a coil 215 between a stator core 205 and adjacent stator teeth 210 forming a part of the stator core 205; a rotor 300 rotatably provided on the stator 200 via a gap; and a housing 400 for housing the stator 200 and the rotor 300. In the stator 200, a wedge 500 for holding the coil 215 in the slot is provided on an opening of the slot, and the wedge 500 is made of a magnetic portion 505 and a non-magnetic portion 510. The non-magnetic portion 510 is positioned at the substantially center of a circumferential direction of the wedge 500 and its outside of circumferential direction is sandwiched by the magnetic portion 505.
