<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a position detecting device for the rotor of a rotation dial, the device being able to operate an UI in the position of the center of a click even in the case (device) where a change in the output signal in one click operation in a rotation dial is not located in the center of the click. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A position detecting device for the rotor of the rotation dial includes: a rotation dial having two output terminals that change in output level according to a position in one click; a rotating direction determining circuit that determines the rotating direction of the rotation dial based on the signal level of the output terminal; a means for detecting the start of the rotation of the rotation dial; and a means for predicting the position of the center of the click.
