The bodywork (10) for a motor vehicle, especially an automobile, has a trough (20) at the luggage stowage zone (14) at the rear end (12). A diagonal strut assembly (22), for stiffness against distortion, is under the vehicle floor (18), with the ends of the struts (24,26) secured to the side sills (28,30) and the trough. The trough is in one piece, of fiber-reinforced plastics. The trough is secured to the bodywork by screws, adhesive or clips together with a foam body.
