<p>Coating compositions comprise a stable dispersion of synthetic polar polymer in a relatively non-polar organic liquid in which the polymer is insoluble, the polymer being stabilized in the form of disperse particles by a block or graft copolymer of which one constituent is solvated by the organic liquid and another constituent of different polarity is compatible with and associated with the disperse polymer particles and to improve the appearance of a dry film of the composition, a polysiloxane, e.g. dimethyl polysiloxane, methyl phenyl polysiloxane and mixtures thereof. Also present in the compositions may be plasticisers, e.g. cyclohexanyl phthalate and methyl cyclohexanyl phthalate, and titanium dioxide. The examples describe the addition of polysiloxanes to dispersions of polymethyl methacrylate stabilized by rubber and a copolymer of acrylonitrile, ethyl acrylate and acrylic acid stabilized by polylauryl methacrylate.
