<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve heat-retention performance of a desulfurizer that desulfurizes liquid fuel. <P>SOLUTION: The desulfurizer 21 includes a vacuum vessel 17 that is an outside vessel, a cylindrical inside vessel 12 containing a desulphurization catalyst 11, a heater, such as an electric heater 14 for heating the desulphurization catalyst 11, and a granular heat retaining material 13. An opening is formed on an upper surface of the vacuum vessel 17. A non-desulfurized fuel introduction pipe 16 passing through the opening of the vacuum vessel 17 and a desulfurized fuel discharge pipe 15 are connected to the inside vessel 12 and disposed inside the vacuum vessel 17. The electric heater 14 is disposed between the inside vessel 12 and the vacuum vessel 17.
