<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a muffler that reduces the discharge noise and pressure loss without an increase in the muffler volume. <P>SOLUTION: The interior space of a muffler shell 21 is partitioned into a first chamber 12 and a second chamber 13 by a baffle 3, the baffle 3 includes a switching portion 6, and a first opening 15 of the baffle 3 is controlled by changing the degree of opening of a control valve 30. Thus, the second chamber 13 selectively serves as a chamber for reducing noise in a low-frequency range, a chamber for reducing noise in a mid-frequency range, or a chamber for reducing noise in a high-frequency range. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
