PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for carrying red-hot coke without necessitating the enlargement of a winch, increase of a CDQ (coke dry quenching) facility and the like even when a loading capacity of a coke bucket is not coincident with a volume of coke discharged from a chamber of a coke oven. SOLUTION: The method for carrying red-hot coke comprises: a process of receiving the coke discharged from a chamber of a small coke oven into a non-rotating type coke-receiving vehicle 1; a process of making particle size segregation of the coke to small by receiving thereof in a rotating type coke bucket 3; a process of repeating both the above-described processes in plural times; and a process of charging the red-hot coke to the coke dry quenching facility 10 by winching up the rotating type bucket 3 containing the coke received from a plurality of coke chambers, with the use of the winch 4.
