PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an article transporting device capable of preventing the generation of dust and preventing a worker from being injured in a transfer position for the worker. SOLUTION: The article transporting device includes: a reciprocating body capable of reciprocating in a movement route from the transfer position P for the worker and a transfer position Q for a non-worker; a cover material 22 covering the reciprocating body which moves over the whole length of the movement route; and an article loading body 20 connected to the reciprocating body through a connecting portion extended upward from the reciprocating body to pass through a slit 24 which is integrally formed with the cover material in the vertical direction and moving in the movement route above the cover material. The slit is formed to maintain the connecting portion in a state of being brought into non-contact with the cover material when the reciprocating body moves along the movement route, and includes a flexible elastic cover 22S to be elastically deformed in an end forming part 22E forming an end of the slit of the cover material at a side of the transfer position for the worker.
