PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sealing machine capable of carrying out a top seal with a smaller diameter than the outer diameter of a container, and achieving more compact configuration of equipment. SOLUTION: The sealing machine includes: a die cutter 2 having a board-like body having an opening 21 and formed with a cutting edge 22 protruded on the upper side of the peripheral edge of the opening 21; a belt-like film 3 moved intermittently above the die cutter 2; a cutting assistant body 43 positioned above the film 3, having a board-like body having a lower surface 43a opposed to the cutting edge 22 of the die cutter 2 and provided with a through-hole 43b smaller than an upper side opening hole 21 having the cutting edge, made vertically moved, and moved downward to hold and cut the belt-like film 3 by the cutting edge 22 and the lower surface 43b, and cutting off a film piece 35 from the belt-like film 3; and a sealer 5 opposed to the opening 21 above the film 3 and made to be moved vertically and moved downward to cause the lower part 52 of the sealer to pass through the passing-through hole 43b and further enter the opening 21.
