PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inkjet recording apparatus capable of sucking and discharging the optimal amount of ink from a plurality of recording heads corresponding to caps when the plurality of caps are connected to a common negative pressure supply source regardless of the difference in the channel resistance among them. SOLUTION: A common suction pump 11 and the plurality of caps 112, 113, 114, and 115 are connected by a plurality of individual suction passages 22, 23, 24, and 25, respectively. The introducing conditions of the negative pressure with respect to the caps 112, 113, 114, and 115, respectively, are set in accordance with the respective channel resistance of the individual suction passages 22, 23, 24, and 25.
