<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for ameliorating cerebral functions, comprising a biological material and having excellent ameliorating effect, and a cerebral function amelioration method to use the composition as a functional food. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The composition for ameliorating cerebral functions contains a pyrroloquinolinequinone compound of formula (1) or its salt in combination with an amino acid. In the formula (1), R<SB>1</SB>, R<SB>2</SB>and R<SB>3</SB>are each same or different H, phenyl or short-chain alkyl, aralkyl, alkylaryl, alkenyl or alkynyl.
