<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator capable of doing an optimal operation schedule, by freely passing ahead in a common shaft. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A ramp 40 and a cage 30 integral with this are arranged between a set of traveling walls 10 arranged in parallel to the vertical direction. A plurality of tires 20 and its rotational driving means are arranged on the ramp 40. These tires 20 are respectively rollably contacted with a wall surface of the set of traveling walls 10 and 10. The respective tires 20 are pressed to be pressed to the wall surface of the traveling walls 10 and 10.
