PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic apparatus for performing an output operation related to a character string displayed on a display section.

SOLUTION: A portable electronic apparatus includes: a casing; a character information generating section 451 for generating character information; a display section 21 for displaying character information; an operating section 60; a variation detecting section for detecting variation in the position of the cabinet; a storage section for storing the character string and a variation pattern for the position of the cabinet in association with each other; a determination section 452 for determining whether or not a character string stored in the storage section is included in character information generated by the character information generating section 451; and an operation control section 453 in which when it is determined that the character string stored in the storage section is included in the character information generated by the character information generating section 451 and the variation detecting section detects variation in the position of the cabinet according to a variation pattern associated with the character string, the operating section 60 is operated in a first mode.
