<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dive stop device for large applicability always exhibiting a stop function at the abnormal rotation of a winding drum to enhance safety and easily equipped at an existing shutter by after-fitting. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The dive stop device 20 is mounted in a position to face a driven sprocket in a region, surrounded by a drive sprocket and a driven sprocket chain, of a bracket on the shutter mounting side. The device comprises: a casing 21 fixed to the bracket; a timing wheel 25 rotatably supported in the casing and meshed with the driven sprocket through an opening formed in the casing; a locking wheel 27 rotated integrally with the timing wheel and formed with a plurality of holding grooves 26 at a peripheral edge; and a plurality of rotation bodies respectively held in the respective holding grooves of the locking wheel. The rotation bodies jumping out of the holding grooves of the locking wheel at the abnormal rotation of the winding drum are caught by a terminal part of a fitting groove formed on the inner peripheral surface side of the casing, to exhibit the stop function.
