PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structure in which a grip used for opening/closing a door member or drawer surface member of furniture, e.g. a modular kitchen, does not project from a plate material. SOLUTION: A notched surface is at least partially formed, as a grip portion, on the back side of the peripheral end of the door member or drawer surface member made of a composite veneer or solid wood panel having a predetermined thickness. The door or drawer is opened and closed by placing fingers in the grip portion and drawing it. The grip is formed at a position which is not seen from the front side of the door member or the drawer member. The cross-sectional shape of the notched surface has a surface inclined at an acute angle of less than 90 degrees relative to surfaces of the door member or the drawer surface member, and the inclined surface may be formed of a convex curved surface. Further, the grip may be provided by forming the notched surface into a substantially L-shape so as to be backed with an extruded material or folded plate having the same shape as the notched surface. Therefore, the grip is prevented from projecting from a surface material of the door, thus wiping is facilitated. COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
