<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for evaluating decoding of an error correction code capable of rapidly evaluating the error correction capability of decoding methods themselves or error correction capability specific to a practical application device with these decoding methods incorporated therein. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A noise addition part 199 adds noise to error correction code data to generate error correction code data with noise. A first decoder 8 decodes the error correction code data with noise to generate first decoded data. A first bit error detector 9 detects an error of the first decoded data. A second decoder 11 decodes error correction code data with noise corresponding to the first decoded data with an error detected therefrom to generate second decoded data.
