<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a load accompanying the use of a generator in a database system. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A database management method is provided by a database management system which uses an FES 2 for accepting a processing request from terminal equipment 1 to a database, and a BES 4 for controlling access to the database in a housed storage device 5 according to an instruction from the FES 2. The FES 2 reads the data specification information of the database for which a generator designated by a generator definition sentence received from the terminal equipment 1 is used, and determines the BES 4 in which the storage device for storing the data of the data specification information is housed, as the layout destination of the generator.
