<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which corrects uneven density precisely in a short period of time, and also to provide a program for correcting uneven density. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Based on the read data of a test pattern 200, the output density corresponding to an input pixel value at a measurement point is measured and plotted in the coordinate system of the input pixel value-output density, and then the output density is complemented between the measurement points thus obtaining a measured density curve 204. A pixel value D1 required for obtaining the target value X of an input pixel value D0 is calculated on the measured density curve 204, and a correction LUT 1 sets a translation pixel value of D0 at D1. A displacement (a) arises between the D1 obtained based on the complement value and a pixel value D1' which can actually obtain the output density X. From a second measured density curve 204 based on the read data of a test pattern 200 which is based on the correction LUT 1, a pixel value D2 required for obtaining the target value X is calculated. Regarding that the displacement (a') of the D0 and D2 is substantially identical to the displacement (a), the displacement (a') is made to correspond with the D1, and a pixel value D3 which is displaced from the D1 by the displacement (a') is set as the translation pixel value of D0 by a correction LUT 2.
