<p>Disclosed are an image processing device and a method with which an image intended by a content producer can be displayed when stereoscopic image content is displayed as a two-dimensional image. A generation unit (13) generates multiplexed data that includes two pieces of viewpoint image data, which are viewpoint image data for the left eye and viewpoint image data for the right eye, and a view-switching flag that designates the image data, of the viewpoint image data for the left eye and viewpoint image data for the right eye, which is used for display of a two-dimensional image. With the decoding of the multiplexed data, the view-switching flag is extracted from the multiplexed data and the image data used for display of the two-dimensional image is selected from the viewpoint image data for the left eye and viewpoint image data for the right eye according to the view-switching flag. This device and method can be applied to, for example, an encoding device which encodes a stereoscopic image comprised of images from multiple viewpoints.</p> |
