The piston vacuum pump (1) has a cylinder sleeve (22) and a stroke piston (24) which is movably arranged in the cylinder sleeve. A seal (48) is arranged in the stroke piston for sealing a chamber between the stroke piston, cylinder sleeve and a drive. The drive operates a periodic movement of the stroke piston. A cooling medium stays in contact with the cylinder sleeve in heat-transferring manner.
