[Also in Group XXVIII] An electric drier of the hot air type comprises the motor-fan casing 1 of a vacuum cleaner of the hand type from the air inlet end of which has been detached the filter bag housing 13 and suction inlet duct 14 and to the opposite air exhaust end 22 is attached a housing 23 containing the main air heating resistance 26 and a second resistance 28 which becomes automatically included in series with the motor circuit thereby reducing the motor speed. The suction cleaner assembly is controlled by a switch 18 within the handle 2 and power is supplied to pins 20 which when the apparatus is used as a drier are engaged by sockets 29 of the heater device which is controlled by a switch 30; power then being supplied to pins 27.
