The method involves generating a continuous wave (CW) signal by a frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) oscillator (1), where frequency of the CW signal is changed in speed range that approximates to standstill condition and at standstill condition. An antenna (2) is provided for sending and receiving a high frequency Doppler signal, and an in-phase mixer (3) is provided for demodulation of the received signal. A quadrature mixer (4) is provided for demodulation of a reference frequency that is phase-delayed about 90 degrees by a 90 degrees phase shifter (5). An independent claim is also included for a Doppler radar sensor comprising an oscillator.
