Carbon dioxide separation device and method of operating such a device

The carbon dioxide-separating system (1) has a cooling device (6) for cooling the synthesis gas (2) and a phase separating unit (3) downstream the cooling device in the flow direction of the synthesis gas for separating liquid or solid carbon dioxide. A synthesis gas or carbon dioxide-heat exchanger (7) is provided which is switched at the primary side from the front side of the cooling device and at the secondary side behind the phase separating unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for separating carbon dioxide from synthesis gas.
