摘要 An artificial bone 6 capable of being absorbed and replaced by an autogenous bone is disclosed, which comprises a cylindrical body 5 obtained by rolling a sheet-shaped apatite/collagen composite 2. A hollow center portion 4 of the cylindrical body penetrating from one end surface to the other end surface has a diameter of 100-1000 µm. The sheet-shaped apatite/collagen composite may have pores with a diameter of 100-1000 µm at a density of 1 or more per 1 cm2. The artificial bone may be obtained by bundling and cross-linking pluralities of the cylindrical apatite/collagen composites. The sheet-shaped apatite/collagen composite may be formed by compressing a block-shaped apatite/collagen composite. A method for the production of such an artificial bone is also disclosed.
