PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-quality steering column, preventing rocking in operation of a lever for locking and unlocking a tilt telescopic mechanism of a column. SOLUTION: The column 12 tilts to a fixed bracket 11, and is movably (telescopically) held in the column axial direction. A bolt 14 is provided with a cam device 20 composed of a first cam 21 and a second cam 22 for locking the tilt and axial directional movement of the column 12, and the second cam 22 is provided with a lever 16 for locking the tilt telescopic mechanism and releasing the lock. An annular guide 22b extended in the axial direction so as to surround a cam surface, is arranged on the periphery of the second cam 22. When the second cam 22 for installing the lever 16 tends to incline to the axis of the bolt 14 when releasing the lock, the tip of the annular guide 22b prevents surface falling by contacting with a side surface of the fixed bracket 11, and prevents the rocking in the operation of the lever 16.
