PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation apparatus for reporting timing when a driver actually steps on a brake in a curved road to a fellow passenger in advance. SOLUTION: The navigation apparatus comprises: a current position detection means for detecting a current position; a map information storage means for storing map information; a travel direction detection means for detecting the travel direction; a brake detection means for detecting the step-on of the brake; a travel direction detection means for detecting the travel direction; a detection means for detecting the position of the right/left turns and/or the curve of a road in front of the travel direction, based on a current position detected by the current position detection means, map information stored in the map information storage means, and the travel direction detected by the travel direction detection means; and a reporting means for reporting that the brake is stepped in when the current position detected by the current position detection means and the position of the right/left turns or the curve detected by the detection means are within specified distance.
