PURPOSE: A regulator for an axial piston pump is provided to rapidly reduce the swivel angle by opening a check valve when a load pressure drastically rises. CONSTITUTION: A regulator(100) for an axial piston pump(10) comprises a pilot piston, a stroking piston(320), a lever(270), a first spool(370), a second spool(360), a first sleeve, a second sleeve, and a valve member. The pilot piston moves according to the pilot pressure. The stroking piston moves according to the change of the swivel angle. The first spool moves according to the rotation of the lever. The second spool moves according to the discharge pressure variation of the pump. The first sleeve selectively connects, the Cl port(C1) connected to a large-diameter chamber(22) and the P1a port(Pi1) connected to the pump, to the Sv port(Sv) communicated with the second spool, by the movement of the first spool. The second sleeve selectively connects, the Dr port connected to a tank and the P1a port connected to the pump, to the Sv port, by the movement of the second spool. The valve member connects the Sv port to the Cl port.
